1. What’s one thing in the past month you would have changed? I would have changed my 14 year old beating himself mentally at the state wrestling tournament! He's always so hard on himself and when he second guesses himself, he loses focus.

2. What was your favorite thing that happened in March? It's a tie! Celebrating 16 years of marriage and my oldest son's 16th birthday!

3. Check your phone… who was the last person you called and what is your favorite thing about them? My husband...and my favorite thing about him is his smile...he has the best smile!

4. If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why? I'd be green because it is my favorite color and it represents so many things I love...the Army and beauty of the earth!

5. What are you looking forward to in April? Hopefully my son's Eagle Court of Honor and Family pictures!

1. What is your favorite winter memory?
I went to high school in Idaho and had the pleasure of taking Driver's Ed in the middle of a really bad winter. At times it was scary driving through literal tunnels of snow but most of the time, myself and my classmates in my group had so much fun going out and driving and torturing our driver's ed teacher!

2. What is your current favorite TV show?
This is a hard question because I don't watch much TV and I don't really watch anything that I fret over missing. I suppose Grey's Anatomy.

3. What was your favorite thing that happened in January?
Watching my youngest son place first for the first time ever at a wrestling tournament, he was ECSTATIC!

4. What is the best sound in the world to you?
My boys laughing together (seriously, I am almost crying just thinking about it!)

5. What is the biggest lesson you have learned as a MilSpouse (or significant other)?
Flexibility and patience! I believe the two go together. This lifestyle is unpredictable and we have ourselves set with too many expectations and are unwilling to be flexible, we can find ourselves experiencing a lot of disappointment!

Have you (spouse) ever considered joining the military and what do you think of dual military couples? submitted by Project Army Wife My husband and I were dual Military for over a decade. It's difficult and it comes with a lot of sacrifice. As much as you want to be a really great parent AND a great Military member, something has to give. I know many who find a balance but it's hard to be "there" when you aren't physically there. I got out to be a stable force for my family, to be the parent who would be there all the time since early on we spent a lot of time away from our kids. Thankfully I had my parents who were always there for us and our kids.

Are you a different person than you were five years ago? submitted by Sisterly Thoughts

  1. Do you think civilians, in general, understand the meaning of Memorial Day? I think they try but unless they know someone in the Military or who have known someone who has lost their life for Freedom, they don't fully comprehend the true meaning. On that same note, there are many in the Military who don't fully understand either, I'm always amazed at how disconnected some Families or even those who serve can be.
  2. What are your plans for the Memorial Day Weekend? We are going to visit the Engineer Memorial and do rubbings for some of the people we know. We are helping out at our USO with a Family Game Night. Tomorrow my husband and one of my sons will be going to Joplin to help deliver items our community has collected. Monday we will volunteer at the USO and visit the Veterans Cemetery here. And we will remember what this weekend is really about.
  3. What skill/talent do you wish you had? I wish I knew how to play the piano...perhaps by the end of the year I will learn that new skill.
  4. Which came first: the chicken or the egg? Uhm....I don't really care...lol
  5. What is the best thing about your post (base)? The worst? Our leadership, we have amazing Installation Leadership who truly care about the Soldiers and their Families. FLW doesn't get enough credit for what an amazing community we have here. As far as the worst...the mentality some of the Spouses get here, and the crazy lines drawn between Officers/Enlisted created by them....

Which was the best day of your life- Wedding day or Homecoming day? submitted by Pink Champagne, Gatorade & MREs

Where do you secretly wish you could be stationed with you/your SO’s line of work (realistically speaking, not everyone can be stationed on NAS Fiji)? submitted by Wookie & Co.

Honestly, there has never been a place we wanted to be. We know that wherever we go is where the Lord sends us and we're there for a reason so we make the best of it. We feel that we have been blessed to go everywhere we've been including the places that we've been deployed because it has built us into the people we have become.

  1. Have you and your spouse agreed to live in separate locations (a geographical bachelor tour) knowing that the short-term inconvenience would have long-term benefits for your family? How did it work for you? submitted by When Good People Get Together

  1. What is your favorite thing about being a MilSpouse? submitted by Sarah Ruth Today
The amazing emotions you feel, the pride that cannot be defined in words.
  1. If you could still have your spouse/significant other and your family, but take the military life out of it…would you? submitted by Trust. Love. Believe. Bake.
Nope, I truly believe that experience makes us who we are. My husband and I would not have met without the Military...
  1. What have your homecoming experiences been like after a year long tour of separation? submitted by Army Soldier, Army Wife
They are wonderful naturally but they are also hard. During our 2005-2006 deployment, we lost good friends. That homecoming was extremely bittersweet. I had a hard time being excited when my best friend would not be able to experience the same homecoming.
  1. If you have a child(ren) why you chose their name(s)? If not, why you would name your child something? submitted by Tiara’s & ACU’s
Our oldest son is named after my husband's brother who passed away when my hubby was 13. He also happened to be born on his birthday. His middle name is after my youngest brother. Our middle son is named after Kevin's middle name and his middle name is after my dad and brother. Our youngest son's name is named after the Elton John song Daniel. For real...we had no other family names we wanted to use and so it was hard coming up with a name. When I was pregnant with him, I must have heard that song a million times so Daniel sounded like a good name to me! His middle name sounded good with it.

How many pets do you have? And what type? submitted by Life and Times of a Displaced Jersey Girl

We have two spoiled dogs. Sapper Princess is a long-haired chihuaha and Zoe is a beagle/chihuaha mix.

What are your favorite projects to do while hubby is away? submitted by my-inspired-nest

Volunteering and coming up with new projects. Each time he is gone I tend to come up with some new thing to do. Once my friend and I started a deployment club. Another time I "walked" to Iraq with a group of girls trying to get healthy. We walked over 7,000 miles (maybe I need to do that again and lose some weight!)

What are the must-haves in your deployment care packages? submitted by Christine’s Little Blog

Handwritten notes and pictures! Oh and maybe something crazy...usually I send something like bubble gum or bubbles with a disposable camera with the order that Soldiers must do some kind of contest and it must be recorded. We have the best pictures from those cameras.

If you could star in any TV show, which would it be? submitted by Just a Girl

Super Nanny....I'd just like to tell parents to quit ruining their kids with their bad habits!

What was the biggest hurdle that you faced during your/your significant other’s first deployment? submitted by The Pavlik Perspective

Compassion for other spouses in our unit. Being a Soldier myself, it was hard for me to deal with a lot of the whininess. I didn't want to be the mean person so I spent a lot of time in prayer trying to understand their perspective.

What romance movie scene reminds you of your s/o or spouse and the LOVE you share? submitted by Simply Sunshine and Daisy’s

The scene in the Wedding Singer where Robbie sings to Julia on the plane going to Vegas. "I Wanna Grow Old With You"

If you were allowed to deploy with your husband to a war zone would you and why? submitted by I & J

No, having watched numerous couples deploy together I have seen the stress brought on by being together so much. There isn't anywhere to really get a break. The lack of your own space (have you seen how small the trailers are that our Soldiers live in) and the added stress of the OPTEMPO causes so much friction. I have seen many couples come back and separate and divorce. I just couldn't do that and besides someone has to stay home with the kids :)

What is your most irrational fear? submitted by Eights on the Move

That I will lose my entire family when my husband and all three of my boys are traveling together in the same vehicle due to a horrific traffic accident.

If you could only live in one kind of climate for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? submitted by Many Waters

I could live in an area with dry heat. I can't deal with too much cold and snow or rain. I can deal with dry heat better than humidity.

What is your must have gadget? submitted by Flying High With My Flyboy
Definitely my cell phone, it keeps me connected to everyone. Anyone who has been through extended separation and has missed a precious phone call will understand taking the phone with you EVERYWHERE and the stress when you leave it home.

How does your adulthood compare to what you imagined it would be like when you were a little kid? submitted by L to the Third
I never thought I'd get married or have kids. My whole life was planned out and it involved serving in the Army for 20 years and maybe having a family but it wasn't a priority. I got married and had my first child at 19, so not quite like I planned. While I didn't envision this type of service I am still serving the Military community and I have an amazing family. I'm so glad the Lord knows me better than I know myself and what I need.

Brownie Pudding Cake...I will post the recipe on my Food Blog.

How do you deal with military life when it gets to be to much or to hard? submitted by Combat Boots And Pointe Shoes
I have a playlist on my iTunes that I will play as I sit or lay in my room and just pause for a while. I try the "gratitude attitude" and think of things that are great in my life or even just okay.

What piece of advice would you give a new Military spouse facing their first deployment? submitted by The Albrecht Squad
Build realistic expectations. Communicate those expectations before the goodbye. An example is the expectation of how often you might get to communicate. Realistically most people don't sit down every single day and talk for an hour or more with their spouse. Why do we suddenly have an expectation that when our spouse is thousands of miles away we should be be able to talk to them daily for an extended amount of time. Also, lay out expectations. I told my husband I wanted handwritten notes and expressed why they were important to me. I made sure in care packages I sent to him that he had what he needed to be able to grant that request. If I had never told him, he never would have known. Communicate and build realistic expectations.

What are some of your ideas for staying connected with family…you know, those people we moved thousands of miles away from? Definitely the phone...that's our main means of connection and sending lots of pics of my boys. Sadly in my family that connection is pretty one sided, it can be pretty discouraging, I just need to remember to do my part.

What’s the most romantic gift you have GIVEN? Giving my husband three beautiful boys...I don't know what could be more romantic then carrying three little beings created out of our love.

Would you encourage your child, if they came to you and wanted to join the military? All three of our boys have expressed interest in serving in the Military. Being that both Kevin and I have served, we believe in duty and would never discourage them if they chose to join the Military.

What is your least favorite bill to pay and why? Grocery bill...we spend so much money on things that are gone way too fast and we don't get nearly enough for our money.

What is the proudest moment you’ve had as a military spouse? Wow, one moment....that's so hard...probably his last promotion when he gave the best speech ever about how he got to where he is, honoring our Heavenly Father and his family. He inspired his own Command Sergeant Major to call home and thank his wife.

  1. Do you or your {spouse} ever wish your {spouse} was in a different branch of the military? No, we love the Army, both of us.
  2. What duty station(s) are on your “No Way, Hell No, Not Going, Have Fun Unaccompanied” list and why? Nope, after enduring many separations and challenges throughout our marriage and time in the Army, we know that it's all about perspective and making the best of every situation. As long as we're together we can live anywhere. We are currently stationed at a duty station that most would fall onto that list and we love it...it's all about perspective.
  3. If you could be one age forever, what age would you choose and why? 25, probably one of the best times of my life, I had my family, my career and life was great.
  4. If you were a breakfast cereal, which one would you be? Cocoa Puffs - I'm coo-coo........for cocoa puffs!
  5. What is your morning beverage of choice and why? I'm a water or what I call fake orange juice...I don't like real orange juice so we buy Tampico.
