SNOWPOCALYPSE

While I was off in DC, the men in my house were dealing with snow! Having lived in Idaho and having a husband from North Dakota, it's often quite humorous how people freak out when a few inches of snow are being predicted. Lots of people get annoyed when a Military installation closes down because of snow. But here's the reality, if you think about the diversity that makes up the Military, you are often dealing with many inexperienced winter drivers. That thought alone will keep me off the roads. The problem wasn't the snow but the crazy combination of snow, sleet and rain that resulted in ice. Missouri has hills. People choose to live within these hills. I'm sorry to say that when a Realtor suggests you buy a 4-wheeler or snow machine to have during the winter so you can park at the bottom of the hill that takes you to your house, that does not make me want to jump at the opportunity to buy that house. But anyway, I digress. The fact of the matter is that they closed post completely for two days giving the hubby two days off of work and school was closed for four days, giving my boys plenty of time to enjoy the snow we did get. As much as the boys enjoyed their days off, they were ready to go back. They don't want days added on to their summer vacation and that is where we are headed. We have now had a total of 10 snow days, it's quite ridiculous.

Here are a few pics of the boys enjoying the hill we have in our backyard (the only positive thing about it is that it's fun to sled down).

*Please note the wonderful array of winter accessories provided courtesy of the U.S. Army!

I don't mind when they close the base due to snow...as long as hubby is able to come home! I look at it as a "free" day with the hubby...I don't take any time with him for granted:)
