The first of two children received metal accessories today. Daniel had a bit of a bite that the dentist didn't like so he suggested we put him in braces for about 2 months. We went in earlier this week to have impressions made to prepare us for today.
I just want to say how proud I am of Daniel, he did so good for an 8 year old. The dental assistant could do some work on her bedside manner a bit. I think she forgot she was dealing with an 8 yr old. Sometimes when she was talking to him she was a bit brash. I'm the first to admit when I think my kids are overreacting but I think Daniel handled himself very well. Except for a few times when she was pushing really hard, he didn't move or make a sound.
I reminded her a few times nicely that he was 8, after a couple more times of her brashness, I reminded her not so nicely that he was ONLY 8! She got the clue real fast, about that time the dentist came and he too reminded her that she had a "little guy" in the chair.
He isn't complaining of any pain at this moment...he kind of thinks it's cool. He does look pretty darn cute. He'll only have them on for about 6-8 weeks.
I get anxiety when any of my kids have any type of medical procedure done so I admit my anxiety level was a bit high today...but again, he did so good.
It was pretty interesting to see how they put braces on. What I learned the most was that when Neil gets his put on, I'm sending dad!

wow! that sucks that she was acting like that with him. Braces are cool, everyone gets them so saying you had braces is kind of a club that cool kids join! lol...or at least I tell myself that
Awww I'm sorry to hear the dental assistant kind of sucked. Too bad you guys don't live here in San Diego. You could come to the office that I work at. Everyone would absolutely *love* your boys :)
