Garbage Scoungers

Last night we put out our old entertainment stand by the curb. Over the holiday we upgraded to a different one. This shelf serves us well. It was the first piece of furniture Kevin and I ever bought together. We had it 13 years. It was still pretty sturdy, just didn't serve our needs anymore. I was kind of sad to take out. Well anyway, as the boys were getting all the recycling out, someone stopped by and took a look at it. First Daniel comes rushing in to tell me that "someone is looking at our old entertainment stand!" giggle, giggle. I just told him, "that's nice, put out the rest of the recycling". A few minutes later, Neil came in and says to me, "some lady was asking me questions about our entertainment shelf. She wanted to know if it was broken. Mom, I just told her no, it might need some cleaning up but it was good, we just don't need it anymore." How grown is he? About 10 minutes later, Michael takes the final trash out and comes in giggling, "Mom! Someone took our entertainment stand!!" All three boys got a good giggle out of that. I'm not really sure why this struck them so funny but it was amusing to see how tickled they were. I hope that entertainment stand serves whomever picked it up well. I will probably see it on the curb somewhere in the neighborhood next week, unless someone likes having my kid's signatures on their furniture, LOL.

It's been said, "One man's 'junk' is another man's treasure". They probably couldn't help but feel the love that radiated from the wood. LOL

I think we have some regulars that come around in the middle of the night before garbage day. I have a hunch they even look in garbage cans-gross-unless some animal got my lid open and ripped through my trash. It is funny how upset I was the first time I saw someone take it, I should be happy it isn't in a landfill quite yet!!

I love it. That same thing happened with a desk and a dresser we got rid of in Texas. I love that I'm not the only one with kids signatures on peices of furniture :)!!

Ok, I admit it, I have scounged. I do not look in trash cans though. Ick! But I recently found a kids bed that recquired 10 bucks of repair materials, and it turned out great! I don't drive around looking but I came across it and it was too good to pass by when Bethany needed a bed. I will post a pic on my blog. That is cute about your boys though. I bet they love to have garage sales!
